As of April Fools day it was the first time that Landfill taxes have exceeded £90 per tonne. As of Monday this week, standard rates were released at £91.35 per tonne across the UK.
It has also been announced that in 2020 the standard rate will increase further to £94.35 per tonne.
The treasury has said on this matter that it encourages every effort made to avoid materials going to Landfill and welcomes businesses and the public to use other methods such as recycling and reuse.
