Leading Supermarket Chain Trial Plastic Free Food Isles

Posted by Andy Clark on 21st January 2019

UK Supermarket Chain Marks and Spencers have launched a trial this week to remove plastic packaging from their fruit and vegetable isles. The chain will as an alternative package the items in compostable punnets instead and as part of the initiative have recruited green grocers to help advise customers whilst they shop.

The aim of the green grocers is to advise customers on how they can cook the items as well as preserve their shelf life. This is with the aim to reduce the increase volume of food waste seen within the UK.
