The day we’ve been waiting for finally arrived — GAP Group’s Tour-de-Fridge officially set off on Day 1 of an epic charity cycling challenge in support of Changing Minds with Pick Up a Penny.
With the sun rising over our Gateshead HQ spirits were high as our riders gathered to launch the tour. After months of planning, training, and teamwork, the time had come to hit the road — and they did just that, cheered on by colleagues, friends, and supporters.
The energy was electric as the group pushed off from the start line, united by a shared purpose: to raise awareness and funds for mental health support.
The Road Ahead
Day 1 saw the team covering serious ground across a mix of rural roads, and the occasional uphill climb. But it wasn’t all go-go-go — our riders made time for a few well-deserved breaks, taking a moment to recharge, rehydrate, and reconnect.
More than just rest breaks; they were a chance to reflect on why we’re doing this ride — not only for the communities who need better mental health support but to foster connections that make vital positive changes for the environment.
