Collection Containers & Recycling Service
GAP Waste can provide dedicated containers, along with a collection and processing service for multiple types of battery, including Lithium-Ion batteries. Our collection tubes come in various sizes, to suit your business needs. The batteries are collected via our electrical waste team and processed at our facility in Gateshead.
Regulations
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations give obligations to producers/distributors of electronic or electrical items. Because of this, it’s a common misconception is that waste batteries are covered by the WEEE Regulations, however, waste batteries are not covered by WEEE Regulations.
They are covered under a separate set of waste battery regulations, therefore any battery inclusive products placed on the UK Market, need to be reported separately under the waste batteries regulations. You can find out more from the UK Government website here.
Waste batteries regulations obligate producers/distributors of all battery types, whether portable, automotive or industrial.
