At GAP Group North East, we are very proud to announce an exciting joint venture with DEScycle, a pioneering deep-tech company transforming the landscape of electronic waste (e-waste) recycling. A venture that marks a significant leap toward achieving cleaner, scalable, and more sustainable solutions for one of the world’s fastest-growing waste streams.

99% of Critical & Precious Metals Recovered

A record 62 million tonnes (Mt) of e-waste was produced in 2022, and is on track to rise another 32%, to 82 million tonnes, in 2030. (1) Some recycling methods are outdated, inefficient, and environmentally harmful, unable to keep pace with the exponential growth of e-waste. DEScycle is tackling this head-on, with groundbreaking Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) technology, capable of recovering 99% of critical and precious metals like copper, palladium, and gold with minimal environmental impact.

£10.2 Million Funding

Following a successful £10.2 million Series A funding round, this venture will see the development of our state-of-the-art recycling facility in Gateshead, capable of processing an annual 5,000 tonnes of e-waste.

Our CEO Peter Moody, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration:
"This partnership embodies our commitment to environmental stewardship and the principles of a circular economy. DEScycle’s cutting-edge technology perfectly complements GAP Group’s mission to lead the way in sustainable waste management."

As one of the UK’s largest WEEE recyclers, we recognises the urgency of addressing e-waste with forward-thinking, eco-friendly solutions. This joint venture is a testament to our dedication to innovation and a greener future. Stay tuned for updates on this transformative journey as we revolutionise e-waste recycling, one breakthrough at a time.
