With retailer take-back obligations now in force and vapes classified under their own WEEE category, the risk of getting this wrong is real. GAP Group gives you a compliant, traceable end-to-end service with the containers to match.
We provide on-site collection containers, scheduled nationwide collections, safe battery extraction and depollution, and full compliance reporting, all under one roof. You meet your WEEE obligations without needing to piece together multiple providers.

How It Works
Container Placement
We deliver the right vape container for your site — countertop, floor-standing, or undercounter — and set you up for compliant take-back from day one.
Arrange your collection or Drop Off
Once your containers are ready for emptying, we collect nationwide using our own haulage fleet and partners. Collections are scheduled around your operations, whether that's a regular run or a one-off clearance.
Battery Extraction & Depollution
At our licensed treatment facility, used vapes are safely processed. Lithium-ion batteries are extracted and handled as hazardous waste. Remaining materials — plastics, metals, and electronics — are separated for downstream recycling.
WEEE Treatment & Recycling
All materials are processed at our licensed WEEE treatment facility and passed to approved downstream recyclers. Nothing goes to general waste.
Documentation and reporting
Every collection is fully documented. You receive duty of care paperwork, WEEE Category 15 transfer notes, weight data, and ESG-ready reports — everything you need for compliance checks, producer reporting, and sustainability disclosures.
We operate across the UK, making it easier to standardise vape disposal across multiple sites and regions.
Safe lithium battery handling
Our licensed depollution process handles battery extraction safely, reducing your liability from the moment devices leave your site.
WEEE Compliant
We process vapes under the new Category 15 classification introduced in August 2025. Your reporting obligations are met with documented evidence, not assumptions.
Retailer take-back ready
Our service is designed to satisfy your WEEE take-back obligations — with the containers, collections, and paperwork to prove it.
Full process ownership
Collection, treatment, and reporting all sit with GAP. No subcontractors means no broken audit trails and no gaps in your duty of care.

Are retailers legally required to take back used vapes?
Yes. Under the WEEE Regulations, all UK retailers selling vapes must provide a take-back facility for customers returning used devices. Failure to comply can result in enforcement action, penalties, and reputational damage. GAP's container and collection service is designed to help you meet this obligation simply and compliantly.
What is WEEE Category 15 and does it affect my business?
Category 15 — Vapes and E-Cigarettes — was introduced as a dedicated WEEE classification in August 2025. It applies to all businesses handling used vapes, including retailers, manufacturers, distributors, and waste operators. It requires separate collection, treatment, and reporting for vape waste. GAP processes and documents all collections under Category 15.
Why can't vapes go in general waste or standard recycling?
Vapes contain lithium-ion batteries, which are classified as hazardous waste. When crushed or compacted in general waste, they can ignite and cause fires in collection vehicles and processing facilities. They must be collected and treated through licensed WEEE routes.
Which container is right for my site?
It depends on your volume and available space. Our countertop tubs (5L and 10L) suit lower-volume retail sites. The floor-standing tube (20L) works well for higher-footfall locations. The undercounter vape box (16L) is ideal where space is tight. For high-volume sites, our undercounter barrels (30L, 60L, and 120L) provide greater capacity. Our team will recommend the right option for your setup.
How are the containers supplied?
Containers are delivered as part of your service agreement. For contract customers, they remain on-site between collections. Speak to our team if you need a flexible arrangement for a one-off clearance or seasonal volume.
Do you collect from multiple retail sites?
Yes. We provide scheduled collections across all UK sites under a single service agreement. One contract, consistent service, and unified documentation regardless of how many locations you operate.
What happens to vapes once they're collected?
At our licensed facility, lithium-ion batteries are safely extracted and handled as hazardous waste. Remaining materials — plastics, metals, and electronics — are separated and processed at our approved WEEE recycling plant. Nothing goes to landfill or general waste.
What documentation will I receive?
You'll receive duty of care paperwork, WEEE Category 15 transfer notes, weight tickets, and ESG reports showing recycling rates, material volumes, and carbon impact. Everything you need for WEEE reporting obligations, internal audits, and ESG disclosures.
Do you work with waste brokers?
Yes. Waste brokers are a core part of our client base. We provide full downstream traceability and compliance documentation so you can fulfil your duty of care obligations to your own clients.
How quickly can collections be arranged?
Most collections are scheduled within 10 working days. For urgent clearances or high-volume requests, speak to our team about priority arrangements.
How is pricing structured?
Pricing depends on container type, collection frequency, site volumes, and location. Contact us for a tailored quote.
