The Solution

What GAP's Data Destruction Services Do

We provide secure off-site data destruction for all data-bearing assets, hard drives, SSDs, laptops, mobile devices, tapes, and removable media. You get complete chain of custody, certified erasure or physical shredding matched to your requirements, and individual certificates of destruction for every asset.

How It Works

Secure Collection

We collect data-bearing assets from your sites nationwide. All collections are logged with full chain of custody documentation from the moment assets leave your premises.

Secure Transport

Assets are transported in tamper-evident packaging to our secure, accredited facility. Chain of custody is maintained throughout transit.

Asset Registration & Scanning

Every asset is individually scanned and registered on arrival. Serial numbers, asset tags, and device details are recorded, creating an auditable record for each item.

Certified Destruction

Assets are processed using the appropriate method, physical shredding, certified sanitisation, or degaussing. All destruction is carried out at our secure facility under controlled conditions.

Individual Certificates of Destruction

Certificates are provided per asset, ensuring GDPR and ISO 27001 compliance. Every device receives its own certificate showing serial number, destruction method, date, and operator. No batch reports — full asset-level traceability.

Compliance Reporting

You receive a complete audit pack including chain of custody logs, individual certificates of destruction, weight data for WEEE recycling, and ESG-ready reports.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between data sanitisation and physical shredding?
Data sanitisation uses certified software to overwrite data multiple times, making it unrecoverable while allowing the drive to be reused. Physical shredding mechanically destroys the drive into small particles, making recovery impossible but preventing reuse. Finance, healthcare, government, and defence sectors often mandate physical destruction. We'll recommend the right method for your sector and security requirements.
Do I get individual certificates for every device?
Yes. Certificates are provided per asset, ensuring GDPR and ISO 27001 compliance. Every device receives its own destruction certificate showing serial number, asset tag, destruction method, date, and operator. We don't provide generic batch reports.
What is chain of custody and why does it matter?
Chain of custody provides a documented trail of who handled the data, where it was stored, and how it was secured throughout the destruction process. This documentation is essential for compliance and audit purposes, ensuring that every step is verifiable. Without it, you cannot prove what happened to your assets during audits or investigations.
Which certifications should I look for in a data destruction provider?
A credible data destruction partner should possess several key certifications, including ISO 27001 for information security management, ISO 9001 for quality management, and ISO 14001 for environmental management. Accreditation by ADISA confirms that an organisation is fully compliant with the accepted best practices of IT asset disposal and data destruction.
Can you handle collections from multiple sites?
Yes. We provide scheduled collections across all UK sites under a single service agreement. One contract, consistent service, and unified documentation regardless of how many locations you operate.
what happens to hardware after data destruction
Once data is destroyed, the remaining hardware is processed under WEEE compliance. Shredded materials are recycled. Sanitised drives that pass verification can be reused or resold, extending asset life and improving your ESG performance.
How quickly can collections be arranged?
Most collections are scheduled within 5-10 working days. For urgent requirements or high-security clearances, speak to our team about priority arrangements.
What sectors do you work with?
We work with finance (FCA/PRA regulated), healthcare (NHS DSPT), legal firms, government and public sector, and commercial enterprises. Your partner must understand — and evidence — compliance in these sectors. We provide sector-specific documentation and understand your regulatory obligations.
How is pricing structured?
Pricing depends on asset type, volume, destruction method, and location. Contact us for a tailored quote.
How do I get started?
et in touch with our data destruction team. We'll assess your volumes, confirm security requirements, and set up a collection schedule with complete chain of custody and asset-level certification.
