How It Works

Nationwide Collection or Drop-Off

We collect lamps from your sites nationwide using our own haulage fleet. No subcontractors. Collections are scheduled around your operations — whether that's a one-off office fit-out, a regular facilities management contract, or bulk retailer returns.

Segregation by Lamp Type

At our licensed facility, lamps are segregated by type - fluorescent tubes, CFLs, LEDs, halogen, HID - as different lamp types require different treatment routes. Mercury-containing lamps are segregated as hazardous waste.

Mercury Extraction & Depollution

Fluorescent lamps must be sent to a hazardous waste facility for treatment. Mercury is extracted and recovered using licensed processes. Glass, metal, and phosphor powder are separated for downstream recycling.

WEEE Treatment & Recycling

Non-hazardous lamps (LEDs, halogen) are processed at our WEEE treatment facility. Materials including glass, metals, and plastics are separated and sent to approved downstream recyclers. Nothing goes to landfill.

Documentation & Reporting

Every collection is fully documented. You receive duty of care paperwork, WEEE transfer notes, hazardous waste consignment notes (for mercury-containing lamps), weight data, and ESG-ready reports covering recycling rates and material recovery.

Lighting We Can Recycle

We collect and recycle a wide range of lighting, including:

Fluorescent Tubes (T5, T8, T12)
Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs)
LED Bulbs and Tubes
Halogen Bulbs
Mercury Vapour Lamps
High Intensity Discharge (HID) Lamps

Items we don't accept in our vape containers.

Why contractors and facilities teams choose us

Nationwide coverage
We operate across the UK, making it easier to standardise insulation disposal across multiple sites and regions.
Segregation done for you
We segregate lamps by type at our facility. You don't need to sort fluorescents from LEDs or identify which lamps contain mercury - we handle that for you.
WEEE compliant treatment
It is illegal to dispose of any lamps without a transfer note proving that they are to be recycled. We provide the full WEEE documentation for every collection, satisfying regulatory obligations and audit requirements.
Licensed mercury extraction
Each fluorescent lamp contains mercury that could contaminate 30,000 litres of water. Our licensed hazardous waste treatment facility extracts mercury safely and compliantly, removing your liability from the moment lamps leave your site.
Built around live sites
Our service is designed to minimise disruption, reduce on-site storage pressure, and keep projects moving.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Which lamps contain mercury and require hazardous waste treatment?
Fluorescent tubes (T5, T8, T12), compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), mercury vapour lamps, and some high intensity discharge (HID) lamps all contain mercury and are classified as hazardous waste. LEDs and halogen bulbs do not contain mercury and are non-hazardous WEEE.
Why is lamp recycling a legal requirement?
Under the WEEE Regulations, it is illegal to dispose of any lamps without a transfer note proving they are to be recycled. Lamps containing mercury are also classified as hazardous waste and must be sent to licensed treatment facilities. Failure to comply can result in penalties and fines.
What types of lamps do you accept?
We accept all lamp types: fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), LED bulbs and tubes, halogen bulbs, mercury vapour lamps, and high intensity discharge (HID) lamps including metal halide and sodium lamps. There are no restrictions on age, brand, or condition.
Do I need to segregate mercury-containing lamps from LEDs before collection?
No. We segregate lamps by type at our facility. You can present all lamp types together and we'll handle the segregation and correct treatment routes for you.
Do you provide containers for lamp collection?
No. Due to the fragility and varied sizes of lamps and tubes, most customers present them in their own packaging or cardboard boxes. Our team will work with you to arrange the most practical collection method for your volumes and operations.
Can you handle bulk office fit-out or lighting upgrade clearances?
Yes. We work regularly with facilities managers, contractors, and electricians clearing out old fluorescent tubes during LED conversion projects or office refurbishments. Speak to our team about volumes and timescales.
Are you licensed to handle mercury-containing lamps?
es. Our treatment facilities operate under Environmental Permits and hazardous waste licences. We're authorised to extract and treat mercury from fluorescent tubes, CFLs, and HID lamps under licensed processes.
Do you work with waste brokers and contractors?
Yes. Waste brokers, electricians, and contractors are a core part of our client base. We provide full downstream traceability and compliance documentation so you can fulfil your duty of care obligations to your own clients.
How quickly can collections be arranged?
Most collections are scheduled within 5–10 working days. For urgent fit-out clearances or high-volume requests, speak to our team about priority arrangements.
How is pricing structured?
Pricing depends on lamp type mix (hazardous vs non-hazardous), volume, collection frequency, and location. Contact us for a tailored quote.
How do I get started?
Get in touch with our WEEE team. We'll assess your volumes, confirm lamp types, and set up a collection schedule that keeps you compliant and your sites clear.
