Tour de Fridge Raises £13,000 for Charity

Posted by Peter Moody on 24th June 2025

We’re absolutely delighted to share that our Tour de Fridge event exceeded all expectations, raising an incredible £13,000 for the charity Changing Minds with Pick Up a Penny! Thank you to everyone—riders, donors and supporters—who helped make this possible.

Making an Impact

We’re proud to work with Changing Minds with Pick Up a Penny, a North East Community Interest Company on a mission to support mental and physiological health for adults, children, young people, and families through highly personalised, evidence-based therapies.

Led by Psychotherapist Dr?Sara?Young and her team, they offer a range of pioneering services, including:

  • Initial consultations to tailor therapy plans
  • QEEG brain mapping, neurofeedback and biofeedback
  • Buteyko breathing techniques
  • Integrative Psychotherapy, including EMDR trauma therapy

These services aren’t just temporary fixes—they aim for deep, long-lasting recovery rather than symptom management.

Thanks to your generous support the funds will build real and measurable impact:

  • Subsidising therapy sessions - Making key services like Neurofeedback, biofeedback, Buteyko breathing, and EMDR more affordable to those who can’t access NHS or private care.
  • Expanding outreach and training - Helping the team hold events, and community based interventions to raise awareness and deliver psycho-educational workshops.
  • Early intervention support - Backing Dr?Sara?Young’s vision of nationwide, research-based early mental health support for all ages.

Community, Connection and Change

This event wasn’t just a fundraiser. It was a reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a cause that matters and we're incredibly proud of what we've achieved. The £13,000 from Tour de Fridge will really support the charity’s capacity to serve communities across the North East, enabling more people to access life-changing therapies and create lasting change.

Thank you to everyone who pedalled, donated, cheered, or shared our story. Your support is truly changing lives.
