A number of staff who work for WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) are set to be made redundant- in order for the programme to remain financially stable.
The charity released a statement yesterday morning which explained that it needed to cut its fixed costs and offset a significant deficit in income in the previous few years. It further said that government funding is expected to be cut this coming year.
The latest figures published by the charity showed in fact and income increase however the funding from DEFRA to be significantly lower. The announcement is expected to result in a loss of 25 jobs. The CEO acknowledged that this was a difficult decision to make.
WRAP were forced to make people redundant back in 2008 but almost immediately after began increasing staffing numbers.
